- A Yoruba folk song
"It's time, Anyone who likes children, it's time to go." A children's song which uses animals of the forest - the Giraffe, the Goat and links them with food and Sugarcane. A song which is suitable for performance in traditional context at night by firelight.
- 2. JALOLO
- Jalolo, the title track, is the story of a mother whose three children "Wèrè wèrè la n'shegi, Wòròwòrò nibudo, Omòwumi kékéké", travel to a village far away. After they had been gone a long time, she travels to the same village and starts singing at the market place in ther attempt to find her missing kids.
- 3. OHUN AFIN (Yoruba Ballad)
- Whatever we wanna do
No one can spoil it We are going? It's goodbye Hope we shall not meet in death Nor meet at a fight Goodbye, Goodbye
Whoever I marry We will live a prosperous life Whoever I marry Will always remmember me The merry makers are going We shall return in peace We shall return home someday Goodbye, Goodbye.
- 4. LAGOS BLUES (instrumental)
- An Afro Beat Instrumental - An attempt to potray how one feels the blues in Lagos. A Lagosian struggles everyday to survive in a jamboree of people, traffic Jams, high living costs, Military Politics and NEPA's frequent electricity power cuts.
- 5. IYA IBEJI
- "Oh Mother of Twins"
There was once a mother who had twins. One grew up, a hard worker, a leader and eventually became wealthy. The other was lazy, always playing, fell into bad company and ended up in prison. No one knows what tommorow can bring. Let everyone sing for the twin mother. Oh mother of twins - Can you hear what we're saying.
- 6. IJO OBO
- (A joke song about a dance style the Monkey Dance).
"It's a Monkey Dance" A monkey dances, jumping from right to left. The lion chases a dog, that's chasing a monkey. A monkey wears a man's clothes, in pretense. A monkey imitates a man. A man imitates a monkey. Come on dance the Monkey dance We're doing the Monkey dance It's a Monkey dance.
- 7. JAGUA NANA (Instrumental)
- The title of this instrumental was taken from a Cyprian Ekwensi novel (one of Nigeria's best fiction writers).
Here Jagua Nana potrays the life of a woman living in Benin City. A woman of loose morals entangled in various relationships with men who are used by her to satisfy her various desires. The instrumental fuses elements of Akwete, highlife and jazz together.
- 8. EGUN YI (The Masquerade)
- Toby began writing this song while he was seven years old. As a young boy, it demonstrated his fear of African masquerades who come out in Yorubaland during traditional festivals.
The Masquerade Come and watch the Masquerade Children of the world come and watch I, son of Sarumi have brought you a new masquerade Get away, Stop following me cause if you don't I'll turn you into seeping honey I have caught you now, you know I have If you don't get outa my way I'll turn you to billowing wind I am Alapansonph I am Ololu I am the Gèlèdè masquerade Are you not afraid Get out of my way
