FLOXY BEE, THE QUEEN OF HIKOSSO MUSIC (BIOGRAPHY)
FLOXY BEE, the Queen of Hikosso Music was born in Lagos,
Nigeria. She became one of the African's most electrifying
songstess who started out first in the church, then started to
perform with major stars such as the late Yemi Ogunsanya a.k.a,
Yom-Yem, Sunny Okosun and the Ozzidi Band with whom she recorded
Songs of Praise 1 and 2. She figured she was too talented
to be kept in the sidelight, she started her own bands - Floxy and Combo,
Floxy and Ngomalio, Floxy and the Heroes, Floxy and Friends and Floxy and
her Band and started formulating Hikosso Music which is currently taking
Nigeria and United States by storm.
In her early years, Floxy was artist in residence at the following:
- 1983 - 1984 Bala Millas Show Kaduna.
- 1989 - 1990 Ikeja Sheraton, Lagos - you remember the lady in the
Crockpot, Hikosso Queen.
- 1991 - 1993 Eko le Meridien, Victoria Island, Lagos - think of the
swimming pool.
- 1993 - Pinto's Ikeja - With the house band, she pulled the house down.
- 1993 - Woodhouse Cafe, it was the Hikosso Queen that rocked the house
till the morning hours.
- After Zero Hours, Victoria Island, Lagos, there she was the toast of
the town.
In 1996 she released her first CD titled I Go Die For You which along with
her C.B.C live recordings had to satisfy her fans until the release of her
latest and baddest CD Hikossoul.
Hikossoul Music is a mixture of highlife, makossa and soukous made magical
by scintillating vocal of Floxy Bee. The background is highlife which Floxy
Bee is well known for, and being the West African musical equivalent to
American Jazz. It has an open structure in making it
a fertile ground for the Hikosso Queen's multifaceted and electic talents.
Floxy Bee's music is more than music. It's about love for the family,
love between husbands and wives and women's liberation. It is a celebration
of Africa's richest cultural heritage (Nigeria) renewing itself in the
modern world. The Hikosso Queen has performed in numerous clubs and festivals
including headlining the Toronto Afrofest representing Nigeria and Nigeria's
Lekki Beach Easter Show. She has performed at S.O.B.s, Tramps, The Equator Club,
The Bamboo Club, New York's Mach Ballroom on numerous occassions in Newark's
Robert Treat Center. She was the featured artist at the Hunger Projects 1999
annual fundraiser at N.Y's Marriot Marquis.
As her fist debut CD was distributed by Stern's Music; Hikossoul is being
distributed by Amazon.com for the millennium. People have been able to

Floxy Bee known as Hikosso Queen is the most versatile, talented and exciting
African female singer since Maria Mekeba. According to the village voice,
the Hikosso Queen has developed her own amalgam of dispora soul, mixing
pop from Africa, America and the Caribbean. She is another African Superstar.
